Bittersweet Easter

I just love Easter! What a great holiday. What a meaningful day. What a happy time to be with family. This year was different for me, but I loved every minute of it. I usually travel the 4 hours to my parents house on the Thursday before Easter to help mom with all the cooking and cleaning before the 40 or so people show up on Sunday.


We go to church in our pastels and then rush back to the house to do last minute baking,picking up, and egg hiding. By 1 o'clock the little ones are running around the house looking for the baskets my mom has out together for them (my brother and I still get one to this day).


But, this year Jim and I went to the beach on Friday, he worked and played golf on Saturday while I shopped and cleaned the house. Saturday night we met some friends for dinner and we were in the bed by 10:00. I was very excited to go to OUR church on a holiday. Like I said, we are usually at one of our parents houses but this year was different. Jim's mom and 2 grandmothers met us at our church, which was so nice to show off our 'home'. We then went to a great lunch at one of the nicest resturaunts in Savannah. The lunch menu was definitely more reasonable for dinner and it was well worth it to be with family on Easter Sunday!




I saw this cute idea on the Today Show (I changed it up a little) and decided I would try doing it for my mother in law and Jim's 2 grandmothers. Since each of them love to cook I bought parsley plants and potted them in cute little Easter pails.


I figured each year on Easter I would add a new spice to their 'garden'. They loved it!

Although I missed my parents, brother, nephews, grandmothers and cousins....I had a wonderful time here in Savannah with my new family!
