No, we can't afford a new car right now but I swear we are spending so much on my car right now. I bought my car 2 1/2 years ago and I have loved it. I bought it basically brand new and it has been a great car. I never had a car car (only suv's) so I was excited to have a fun little car, but I just don't know anymore. About 6 months after I got the car it needed new tires. So, I spent $300 on just 2 new rear tires. Ok great, I thought I wouldn't be replacing those for a while. I was wrong. Monday my brother pointed out that I needed new tires so Jim and I dropped it off to get looked at. He was right, they said I need them now! So, we spent another $530 to get just 2 more rear tires! What in the world??? Since Mercedes have different size tires in the front and back you can't rotate them. Who knew? I sure didn't or maybe I wouldn't have bought this car. So, Jim and I have been contemplating what to do. We think the repairs and all should be good for a while so I think we have decided to keep it until it is paid off (2 more years). We will probably keep it a few months after that so we can save a little money. I love my car, but it is so expensive to keep up! I bought for a great price, but an oil change is $230 since it requires synthetic oil, I have to get premium gas which is not fun when the gas prices fluctuate, and any repair costs an arm and a leg.
WHEN and IF I get a new car, this is what I want...
Jim says these are just as expensive to keep up, so who knows what I'll get.
Sorry, I just had to vent about stupid expenses. Maybe I should just take the bus from now on.
Anyway, Happy Hump Day!
I am so sorry! I have a 2001 GMC SUV and it is fine for now, but I just had to spend $650 to get tires and whatnot. It was not fun at all! I have a recommendation for a fantastic mechanic if you ever need one. He has bought tire wholesale from this man in Pooler that owns a Goodyear Tire place and he gets them for a lot cheaper. I got 4 tires for $485 including everything they have to do.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea where you take your car to get the oil change and all, but if you go to Savannah Tire you might want to be careful. I went there originally to get the oil changed and they pointed out that I needed about $2000 in repairs. When I took it to this mechanic for a second look he said they were straight lying to me and that what they said was wrong wasn't at all.
I had no idea that the Volvo XC90 was expensive to keep up! I was planning on getting one when I graduated and now I may not want one. Premium gas and $230 oil changes...YIKES!
LOVE the Volvo, LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the market for a new XC90 right now... so excited about it! Although I have been debating between the xc90 and the xc60, their new crossover. We shall see! I hope you get one sooner than later. :)
ReplyDeletei will take one of those too please : )
ReplyDeletecute SUV. Have heard they are expensive upkeep as well though........
ReplyDeleteOooo, I want one of those too!
ReplyDeleteI have paid more to get my car fixed already than I paid for the car 5 years ago! I hate cars!
ReplyDeleteI wanted a volvo suv but I went to my dad to ask him about it and he told me to step away slowly, there was no way. I guess post volvo's new ownership (mid 2000's) they are terrible. My dad's friends are mechanics and such and they said people blow 1000's at a time on them. The thing that made me sceptical is that I know that so many people love them! Apparently, from what I have noticed, the people who love them either buy them brand new and keep them for 2 years or have them on lease so that they bypass all the problems that happen once they get a bit older. I know that I have an older volvo and in the last 6 months, i've spent well over $2,500 on it. Seriously though, if I could get/ afford one of the xc90's I would still totally take one!!! I just keep telling myself that it will cost alot of money on maintenance and I dont really have the money to do that.
ReplyDeleteI've actually heard really bad things about that Volvo. A friend of mine has one and has had all sorts of issues and it's been very expensive to fix every little thing.. Just throwing that out there! I still think they look great..
ReplyDeleteLove the Volvo. I recently heard that they are not comfortable and for that much money I want to be comfortable. I may still test drive one to see for myself.
