Oh, Christmas Tree!

Our poor poor Christmas Tree. This was a greenlight special at Wal-Mart. $35 and worth every penny because it's our first one :)

As we were decorating, Jim looked over at me and said "Well, at least this can be the kids' tree that they decorate every year and they'll always know that this was mommy and daddy's first tree". haha! So sweet, but proved to me that our tree really is pitiful.

Here's the beauty.

She got a perm up top. I haven't finished my bow yet, so these little sprouts look lonely.
Here are a few of our newest ornaments.

This was the first one we put on the tree together. Say it with me "Awww!"

Next year, my 'whimsical' tree will not be my main tree :( I'm a little sad, but ready to follow in my mom's footsteps (aka stealing all her Waterford and Christoper Radko ornaments). As long as I can remember, our tree was something out of a magazine. We always had the fun tree that was covered in my brother's and I's homemade ornaments, but the main tree was untouchable. Literally untouchable. If you touched it, you were dead meat. I want to start these traditions now, even though we don't have kids yet. I want the fun/colorful tree (check) and also the classic tree that only I can decorate :) I am most certainly looking forward to all these traditions that are being made as we speak.
I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!!!

  3. Haha this made me laugh because I could have written it!! We had this teeny tiny tree from Target in our first apartment together, and now that we have moved into our new house, it looks ridiculous. The Charlie Brown Christmas tree, for sure! It will eventually (hopefully this year? next year?) become our "kids/family" tree with all of the fun ornaments and we will get a bigger one that is more um grown up.

  4. This is my first married Christmas, too. We got our tree on sale at Michaels, and it's not as statuesque as my mom's but I think it looks pretty good. : )
