House updates

I know I mentioned that my MIL came to visit us on Sunday and I wanted to share the fun things she got us. We were planning on painting Jim's old dresser from college to make it look antique-ish, but MIL said that it was in bad shape so when we came to visit us we went shopping! We went to HomeGoods. My favorite place. We were looking for a dresser or some kind of storage for Jim's clothes, a bed side table, lamps and pillows all for our bedroom. I really want the furniture that matches our bed, but we just can't afford it right now. I think we did really good finding furniture that does match it for now. The 'dresser' MIL got us is supposed to be a foyer table, but it does the job for now. I love this dresser so much that I know once we can afford the other bedroom furniture I will definitely use this in our real foyer.

She brought our picture that we had everyone sign at the rehearsal dinner, so we just hung it over it.

This is the new bedside table that we got with 2 matching lamps.

And, here are the before and after pictures of the lights in our kitchen.

The new lights look so much cleaner and the lighting is so much better. I love it!
To celebrate we are having one of our couple friends over for dinner. The menu goes as follows:
Jim's famous Shrimp & Grits
Cornbread
Cheesecake
Beer
Wine
Perfectly balanced meal :)

  3. I really like what you picked out. The "dresser" looks fantastic. Bedroom furniture can get really expensive fast. I bought some at Havertys last year and it is a full size and it was unbelievable how much the suite ended up being. I love it though!
